LONDON COLLECTION MENS AW17 PRESENTATION
The inspiration for Nigel Cabourn collections for AW17 is born from the Airborne Forces during the Second World War. This story encapsulates the men’s and women’s collections, which were on show at London Fashion Week Men – with Authentic drawing upon the clothing worn by officers and pilots and Lybro from the work wear of the airborne forces ground staff and mechanics learning a trade in the RAF.
Nigel Cabourn said:
“The concept for this all-encompassing story sprung forth when I came across the history of the Denison smock – worn by Paratroopers of the Airborne forces. The story of its past, as well as the camouflage and details of this design, which appeared in many forms and variations during the war, threads through into both ranges creating a common link and a strong overriding concept for the season.”
Also on show was Nigel’s collaboration with leading Swedish outdoor brand, Peak Performance. The first collaboration in Peak Performance’s 30 year history, brings together two experts in the performance wear field of fashion designing clothes for people on the same chilly latitudes. Fusing Cabourn’s British point of departure and expertise in global army apparel with Peak Performance’s unique Scandinavian outlook and proficiency in the innovative fabrication of ski and outerwear, has resulted in a collection rooted in Swedish military wear for the contemporary urban dresser.
