After the war, Japan suffered from extreme shortages of supplies.
It was common for people to carefully mend their clothes even if they were torn.
Nigel Cabourn travels around the world searching for and collecting information on old clothing, and one day he came across some old work clothes in a rural area of Japan.
* Noragi: workwear unique to Japan worn when working in the fields or mountains.
The work clothes had been patched together like a patchwork, and there were signs that they had been remade, resized, and carefully worn.
The "JAPANESE FARMER" series from the Autumn & Winter 2025 Collection was inspired by this.

The bib and skirt are made from 12oz denim of different ages, which have been joined together like a patchwork.
