The selected items "FRENCH BASQUE L/S," were released in Autumn/Winter 2023.
This item has been extremely well-received thanks to its relaxed fit and dropped shoulders.
The Basque region straddles both France and Spain.
The Basque shirt originated as workwear for the fishermen and sailors there.
It's an essential item for classic French and marine style!
And what we want you to pay attention to most is the fabric.
We use jersey fabric from Jules Tournier & Fils, a long-established fabric manufacturer whose products are also used by major fashion houses.
Most Basque shirts are made using a warp knitting method called Russell knitting, which gives them strength and firmness.
The Tournier Basque fabric we're using this time is made using a flat knitting method called jersey knitting, which means it's more stretchy than warp knitting, and is a softer, smoother fabric!
The reinforced neckline and elbow patches originally served a functional purpose - protecting the garment from stretching, chafing and fraying that occurs with repeated wear.
Today, they are considered a nice design accent.
"Green" is a Nakameguro-exclusive colour.
We chose this colour because it pairs easily with this season's items.
We also chose it with our regular customers in mind.
