We have received some unique printed T-shirts that are rare to find at Nigel Cabourn.
This delivery included the entire HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION, and this year's volume is truly impressive!
The print design is the embroidery of an FFA jacket used by the American "FFA" (Future Farmers Agriculture). It's the blue corduroy jacket you're probably familiar with, often seen in second-hand clothing stores.
The FFA jacket was the uniform of the American National Agricultural School, and had different embroidery and the wearer's name for each state. This product retains the embroidered silhouette while adopting a print design with a stronger farmer feel.
The centre of the print features harvested wheat, the sun, and the words "NIGEL CABOURN MID SUMMER," giving it a summery feel.
The original FFA JACKET featured a bald eagle (a symbol of America) at the top of the circle, but this product replaces that with a duck, which plays an important role in agriculture. Since ducks eat weeds and pests, they are a valuable farming method that does not require the use of pesticides or herbicides.
Another feature is that the two birds create the silhouette of a bald eagle with its wings spread.
The words at the top of the print (GRAIN FARMS OF THE MIDWEST) refer to the American Midwest, where the wheat industry thrived. The words at the bottom of the print (WHEATFIELD HARVESTER) refer to the harvester (agricultural machinery) used to harvest wheat.
When wearing these types of printed t-shirts, knowing the meaning and origin of the print will give you a sense of security.
These prints are printed using the "silkscreen" method. Silkscreen printing requires a combination of colour material and a plate. It might be easier to understand if you imagine printmaking. When I was in elementary school, I used only black, but for this product, I use plates with about five colours.
The red and blue dyes are combined to make the purple, so it might be interesting to try to find the overlapping parts.
In addition, this product has been garment dyed after the above print has been applied.
You might think, "I went to so much effort to print it beautifully...", but by going through this process, the finished product has the texture of a vintage printed T-shirt.

Khaki has a rustic American feel, in a good way. With this look, you'd naturally want to pair it with military pants. If the print size is too large it can look cheap, but this size is easy for adults to wear.

The navy colour is reminiscent of the original FFA JACKET that was used as a reference. This colour will allow you to see the changes that occur over time with wear and washing more clearly. It's also a good idea to pair it with items of similar colours, as shown in the styling.
