《The world of workwear to wear in the summer》/ US NAVY SHIRT - WABASH DUNGAREE

Hello everyone. This is Nishizawa from the Osaka store.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

It's August now, and we've been experiencing scorching heat every day. Record-breaking temperatures are continuing! It feels even more abnormal than last year. When it's this hot, our skin reacts incredibly sensitively to the temperature difference between the outside temperature and the air-conditioned room temperature, and we sometimes get suddenly cold, making it difficult to regulate our body temperature.

These days, with the sun's rays being so strong, we wear long sleeves even in the summer. We also keep them in our bags so we can put them on whenever we want. I'm sure there are many people who do the same.

This fabric is very comfortable to wear even in hot weather, making this a versatile shirt that can be worn all year round.

This brand has a deep commitment to detail and a niche appeal based on rare vintage wear. Its eclectic style is packed with gimmicks that go beyond the perspective of simply being a vintage replica.

From the SS25 HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION, I would like to recommend an item inspired by my favourite workwear, made from the precious "Wabash" fabric that is a must-have for vintage work lovers. This shirt also features a tasteful blend of the "US NAVY SHIRT," a classic military item from the US Navy, creating a unique Nigel Cabourn design.

The shirt, accented with a faded indigo light blue and Wabash stripes, is paired with white pants for a refreshing look in the hot summer. The impression the white pants give adds a visual softness to the overall look, even in the hot summer.

Pairing it with work boots adds to the rugged look of the work style. However, it's also a shirt that can be worn lightly and casually even in the hot summer. That's what makes it great!

The Wabash fabric is one of the most famous vintage models, and is considered to be of very special value.

Wabash items were seen from the early 1900s to the 1930s, but were not produced after that, making them highly valuable. Wabash fabric originated as part of the workwear worn by American railroad workers and other labourers.

Hickory stripes are also a staple of workwear, and both Wabash and Hickory have a basic design of an indigo and white stripe pattern. However, while Hickory creates the stripe pattern through weaving techniques, Wabash uses a colour-removing technique called "discharge printing" to create vertical stripes by layering several white dot patterns in succession.

Because of these differences in expression, even though the vertical stripe patterns may appear similar at first glance, the Wabash stripe has a deeper, three-dimensional, and richer expression, giving it the world of classic workwear and imbuing it with elegance and rugged masculinity.

The shade of blue of the urea buttons matches the atmosphere of the faded fabric with a Wabash effect, and the Wabash stripes that evoke the world of good old, precious workwear are applied to a classic US NAVY military shirt, showing the appeal of this brand and making this a masterpiece that is truly worthy of being called one.

The hot temperatures will likely continue for a while longer, but for styling into the autumn and winter ahead, you can wear a coverall over it, or layer a deck jacket as an outer layer for an interesting look, or you can combine it with a tweed coat or blanket coat for a cool look.

For bottoms, I think it would go well with anything, from indigo, black, or white denim to green or khaki military pants, pleated chinos, wide-leg military chinos, or classic pants made from tweed or hemp.

At first glance, the dotted striped Wabash fabric may seem difficult to combine, but it's actually not that difficult to combine, and I think it can be styled with earth tones and monochrome items without any sense of incongruity.

You can enjoy the atmosphere of the dot stripes as they gradually fade with wear and washing, and the "Wabash Stripe" gives off a very rare workwear vibe that has never been seen before. Why not try out this precious item?
