STROW HAT
Item No. 80500066202
Colour : Beige
Size : F
I had a feeling that I had to introduce this product.
The reason for this is the creation of this product. Behind the scenes, a fictional story is being developed in which the "ALOHA SHIRT - Farmer" shirt, which is also part of the "HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION", is made using straw (wheat stalks) from the harvest.
We would like to show you some of Nigel Cabourn's unique manufacturing process, which adds value to products.

Straw hats have a long history, having spread from Europe to Asia from the late Middle Ages onwards, and their shape has not changed even in recent years.
Nigel Cabourn has commissioned a long-established manufacturer with over 100 years of history in Japan to produce this traditional product. This is a technique that can only be achieved by craftsmen who have a discerning eye for materials and high technical skills that have been cultivated over many years.

We were committed to changing the material for each product.
The "STROW HAT - MESH" is made from coconut fibre called Roga grass.
Simply put, it is a palm tree that produces coconuts, and is the most useful of the palm family, often used to make durable items such as mats and baskets.
Roga grass is highly breathable, flexible and rigid, and does not easily lose its shape, making it extremely durable.

The "STROW HAT" is made from a material called Nantoku grass, which is a member of the grass family.
Although it is a material that is not often used these days, it has a classical look and is more durable and breathable than the grass materials that are commonly used today.
There are as many as 8,000 species of grasses, and the craftsmen's dedication to selecting and using only the most suitable materials is truly impressive.

At the beginning of production, it was not possible to finish the brim to the desired length, so there was a proposal to cut off the ends of the brim to get to the ideal length.
However, rather than opting for the simple method of adjusting the length by cutting from one end to the other, this product has been designed by selecting the ideal material length from a wide range of stock, making it possible to achieve the ideal length without cutting the brim.
The STROW HAT - MESH / 10cm and STROW HAT / 9cm are a little larger than average, but I personally prefer this classic look.

The ribbon is placed between the crown and brim for decorative purposes and is also used to distinguish the front from the front of the brim, but I would like you to notice the metal fittings that hold the ribbon in place.
The STROW HAT has a dark, burnt look - the MESH has a rusty, dull colour, while the STROW HAT has a clean look and is slightly glossy.
Not only is the choice of materials outstanding, but Nigel Cabourn's attention to detail is apparent even in the smallest parts.

I wanted to match it with an OPEN COLLAR, so I styled it that way.
Personally, I think this goes better with a shirt than a T-shirt, so I'd love you to wear it with the shirt items from the highly popular HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION.
This hat has a relatively large diameter among the hat items offered by Nigel Cabourn, so even if you've been putting off trying it because of the size, we recommend you give it a try.
We look forward to your visit and inquiries.
