TRIBAL CARDIGAN
Item No. 80510040000
Colour : Ivory / Dark Brown
When it comes to Nigel Cabourn knitwear, many people will immediately think of the Authentic line that boasts "Made in Scotland." However, the Mainline "Made in Japan" knitwear is just as impressive in quality.
The tribal cardigan we'll be introducing today is a unique item with exceptional quality.

・A fusion of sports culture and tribal patterns
This unique item incorporates details from the "lettered cardigan," a staple of American sports culture from the 1940s and 1950s, into a tribal pattern.
The original lettered cardigan dates back to its origins as warm-up wear for college football, baseball, and other sports teams.
It must have a supple yet sturdy texture that doesn't hinder movement. This product also features that tough fabric.
In other words, it's a knit that can be worn as outerwear.

The pattern is based on Native American motifs.
The large crosses on the chest and back are symbolic of the sun and the balance between heaven and earth, while the zigzag and arrow patterns represent the movement of lightning and wind. The geometric pattern arrangement is said to express the symmetry and sense of rhythm unique to Native Americans.
Above all, I personally think that this exquisite pattern and colour scheme, which doesn't feel too unique, will be easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.

・Double Jacquard
The reason for the tough fabric's texture is that it uses a two-layer knit called double jacquard. Compared to regular single jacquard, it's thicker, less likely to lose its shape, and has excellent heat retention.
It's characterised by a pattern on both the front and back, and the lining of this product features a striking bird's eye-like pattern.
Double jacquard is strong enough to be used not only in apparel but also in rugs,
which is why it's also commonly known as "rug jacquard."
The name alone might make you think it sounds quite heavy, but contrary to its appearance, it's actually surprisingly light. We encourage you to try it on. So far, everyone who has tried it on in store has commented that it's light.

It uses horn buttons, known for their durability and elegance, and the ribbed switching matches the atmosphere and is a nice touch.
I purchased this product, and it has a powerful feel and is very satisfying to wear, unlike anything you'd expect from a knit.
So far, I haven't noticed much of the stretch that's typical of knitwear, even when drying it on a hanger. ←Although I don't recommend drying on a hanger, lol.

・Dyed Yarn
We also pay particular attention to the yarn. The sparse, deep colours are achieved by using dyed yarn, which is the original, undyed wool. This shows the careful craftsmanship that maximises the inherent charm of the material.
We hope you enjoy the three-dimensional texture and how the fabric becomes brushed and develops a richer texture the more you wear it.

Ivory Wearing Size: 50 / Height: 175cm
My personal recommendation is styling it with a 40's Denim Jacket as an inner layer.
Pants like corduroy, chinos, and denim also go well with this.
Because the tribal pattern is so eye-catching, I think choosing clean-cut pants will give the look a more cohesive look.
If you own a 40's denim jacket, this is a highly recommended outer layer.

Dark Brown Wearing Size: 48 / Height: 175cm
It pairs perfectly with this season's OX'ed Silver COAL MINER DUNGAREE - BILLIARDS CLOTH.
Based on the motif of the overalls worn by coal miners, this product is made from the elegant fabric used for billiard tables.
The elegant fabric complements the rugged workwear details, adding depth to the style.
