- COTTON SLUB SATEEN -

Cotton slub satin fabric is characterised by its textured surface, created by using slub yarn with uneven thickness, resulting in a deep, vintage-like appearance.  By weaving this yarn in a satin weave, a slight sheen is added, resulting in a fabric that combines ruggedness with elegance.

A three-piece suit from LYBRO, featuring fabric adapted for spring and summer, has arrived. The LYBRO line, proposed by Nigel Cabourn, starts with work suits and incorporates unique twists into each item. This is my personal favourite item from this LYBRO collection! I'll explain each item in detail, though it might take a little while. Please bear with me.

【JACKET】

This lapelled jacket boasts a classic, minimalist design that makes you say, "This is definitely LYBRO."

At first glance, the design is similar to the original "LYBRO" before its reissue. However, this is a new LYBRO with Nigel's touch. It's not just any ordinary jacket.

Nigel Cabourn is well-versed in workwear from both the East and West, and military wear from around the world.  The reason Nigel Cabourn has adapted this jacket is because of Japanese vintage clothing he came across during his travels.

Imagine the shape of pockets used on jackets. Most people imagine vertical pockets with an opening at the top, right? I do too.

However, this product has horizontal pockets. They look quite unusual, but there's a good reason and origin for them.

This design has its roots in military wear. Representative examples include the USMC P-44 jacket and the RAF Aircrew JACKET MK.1. Nigel Cabourn also released an item called the Cold Weather Parka. There are many other examples, but these designs were created to allow easy retrieval of items stored inside. Since most people are right-handed, they are often placed on the left chest.

For those wondering, "What about vertical pockets?", let me explain. The origin of vertical pockets lies in Europe. It is believed to have originated from hunting, which was a popular pastime in the 19th century.

[Yabiku] Height: 173cm / Wearing Size: 48

In my styling post, I wore it as a green three-piece suit, but this time I'm wearing the navy set.  Wearing the whole set really brings out the overall look and sense of unity, so I highly recommend it!

The navy colour has less of a "worker" feel, making it a versatile piece that can be used for everyday wear or as an accent piece on its own. It's a little smaller than the moleskin jacket we released last fall/winter, so you might want to go up one size!

【 VEST 】

The most eye-catching design element of this three-piece suit is the vest.

It features crescent-shaped pockets on both sides, similar to those found on hunting vests. Furthermore, the inside of the back features a game pocket, a pocket typically used to store game.

The fact that this pocket, usually found on the outside, is placed on the inside is a testament to the vest's fundamental design as a work vest. This understated detail seems to be the true essence of Nigel Cabourn's work.

[Kamata] Height: 175cm / Wearing Size: 50

This is a very Kamata-esque style, picking up on the beige colour of the vest while playing with green tones. This type of vest goes well with shirts, and the number and capacity of the pockets allow for hands-free use. The way he cleverly adds a cap and sneakers to give it a casual touch shows his excellent styling sense!

【TROUSERS】

These are simple work trousers with a tapered leg. Having actually worked in the field myself, I appreciate a particular design feature of these pants from that perspective: the wide belt loops.

In jobs involving bending over or handling heavy objects, the strain on the lower back is immense. Therefore, being able to wear a wide belt offers the advantage of protecting the waist and distributing the load. In short, these are both fashionable pants and perfectly functional work pants. I guarantee it!

The pockets on this product are flap cargo pockets originating from the British military. The model with the pockets positioned lower down is the Air Force specification.

The pants pictured on the right are my personal MK3 Trousers.

They are designed for helicopter crews (pilots), so the pockets are positioned lower down for easy access while piloting. It's unclear whether they intentionally aimed for Air Force pants, but since its predecessor, "LYBRO," was also a British brand, it's certain that they followed British military design.

These work pants also have the look of military pants.

With their tapered fit, they're honestly the most versatile type of pants, easily matching any style. They're perfect for a jacket and pants style in early spring.

The fabric  is suitable for spring and summer, ensuring comfortable wear without discomfort.  Each of the three colours gives a significantly different impression, allowing you to choose the work suit style that best suits your personal style and mood.

We highly recommend these  for your spring and summer jacket and pants style!
