Thank you for visiting my blog. This is Uenishi from the Okayama store.
Nigel Cabourn created black military pants that never existed in true history.
Even though I have only just joined the company, I could sense that something was not right...! Black militarywear is said to be a rule-breaker. I will introduce it to you in my own way!
ARMY CARGO PANT - BLACK
Item No. 80510050112
Colour : Black
Size : 30 / 32 / 34 / 36 / 38
First of all, why don't black military pants exist? Because the purpose of dyeing military pants is to make them less noticeable.
Since the battlefields were filled with forests and vegetation, pants dyed green or khaki were used to blend in with the scenery and make them less noticeable.
In other words, the colour was used to give the product functionality by making the wearer less noticeable. If you're wearing all black in a forest or a place with lots of vegetation, you're obviously going to stand out. This means that there is no black military wear.
However, in Japan in 2025, it is unlikely that anyone will be choosing clothes with "colours that blend in with the scenery and don't stand out" in mind. If we focus on the "functionality of colour," which is the reason for adopting green and khaki, black, which can be used in any situation, also has modern "functionality of colour."
I think one of the attractions of this piece is that because it does not exist in history, we can enjoy it from a new perspective. I tried styling these pants.
You can also choose green or khaki to respect the wartime historical context. Or choose black for a contemporary, functional look. Whichever you choose, you can't go wrong with Nigel Cabourn products.
Please try it at the store!
