This may be good news for Nigel fans who have been loyal customers for many years. Those "gym shorts" that were a hit about 10 years ago have made a comeback.
What are GYM SHORTS?
Gym shorts are shorts inspired by U.S. Army training wear and made with Nigel Cabourn's signature "12.5oz denim" fabric.
When it was first released, Nigel Cabourn was primarily known for its military pants and Malory jacket, and its product lineup wasn't as extensive as it is now.
Therefore, the release of these shorts attracted a lot of attention and made them a highly sought-after item.
12.5oz denim takes into account the wartime scarcity of materials and uses uneven yarn counts to recreate the textured feel of the fabric from that era.
With repeated wear, a unique vertical fading pattern will appear, allowing you to enjoy a one-of-a-kind aging process.
Indigo, in particular, seems to offer a noticeable change. I also own pants made of the same material as this product, and I noticed a unique and interesting vertical fading pattern that I haven't seen in other pants.
[Pay attention to the just-right length and wide hem width]
One aspect that has been altered is the length.
The silhouette of this product has been modified several times depending on the season. When it was first released, it was knee-length, had a tight fit, and the hem was relatively narrow. When it was revived about three years ago, the length was changed to below the knee, and the hem width was significantly wider.
In contrast, this time it's knee-length with a wide hem. It's a hybrid type that combines the previous styles.
The wide hem prevents it from looking too childish, and the balance with the top is perfectly maintained.
Regarding shrinkage after washing, since the garment is washed during the production process, significant shrinkage is unlikely, although this may vary depending on the washing environment.
However, since it's made of denim fabric, it might be a good idea to choose a size that's a little on the roomy side.
I personally like the subtle detail of the selvedge design on the back pockets and hem of each colour.
Wearing Size: 34 / Height: 175cm
The styling of combining shorts with long sleeves is something you can only enjoy this time of year. Because the hem is wide, you can choose a top that's a bit looser and it will still fit well.
In the middle of summer, it would probably go well paired with the "7.8oz T-SHIRT," which has a relatively loose silhouette among the standard T-shirts. This is a must-see for those who already own it.
With refined silhouettes, these gym shorts, a long-time favourite among Nigel Cabourn fans, are back. It will undoubtedly be a reliable ally during the long summer.
We look forward to your visit.
