Hello everyone reading this blog. This is Yabiku from the Tokyu Plaza Ginza store.
I've been waiting impatiently for this product to arrive, and it's finally here.
These trousers piqued my interest so much that I had already decided to buy them before they even arrived in stock.
We would like to introduce you to them.
DECK PANT − VINTAGE WASH
Item No. 80510050201
Colour:Indigo
Size:30 / 32 / 34 / 36 / 38
This product is based on the denim trousers issued to the US Navy in the 1940s. There are people who want to wear denim even in summer, right? I am one of those people.
The fabric that can make that wish come true is a "cotton linen denim."
First, we will start by delving into the fabric.

■ Cotton Linen Denim
This product is woven from a blend of 62% cotton and 38% linen.
This exquisite ratio creates this texture and feel.
If the proportion of linen is high, the fabric will feel cooler when worn, but it will also have the firmness and lustre that is unique to linen, which will reduce the denim-like texture.
On the other hand, if the cotton content is high and the fabric is thick, it is not suitable for wearing in the strong heat of summer.
This fibre ratio was arrived at after careful calculations, taking everything into account.

The silhouette is that of the 40s US NAVY denim trousers, which were issued mainly as work pants for use on deck or ashore.
Have you ever seen denim trousers or pants that look very similar to this product at a thrift store? The pants are probably sailor pants.
These sailor pants typically come in two types of fabric: denim and wool. Wool items were mainly used for formal wear and uniforms, while denim items were mainly used as everyday clothing for sailors.
Denim trousers are rarer than sailor pants, and since the number of denim trousers from that time in existence is decreasing, they seem to be traded at quite high prices.

The distinctive design of this product is that it has a square pocket and no side seams, and is made in a cylindrical shape from a single piece of fabric.
Regular pants use two pieces of fabric, one in the front and one in the back, so there are seams on both the inside and outside. However, since this product is sewn using only one piece of fabric, the seams are only visible on the inside. These types of pants are sometimes called wrap pants.
This detail is not often seen in modern pants, so why were they made like this back then?
The historical background of the time plays a major role in unraveling this mystery.
In the 1940s, the world was in the midst of WWII. Many soldiers lost their lives, and many new recruits were called up and recruited into the military. When a soldier joins the military, he naturally needs a military uniform.
By eliminating the side seams, the number of sewing processes and time is greatly reduced, which increased productivity. It is also said to be a detail that prevents fraying and tearing at the seams, which are areas that are prone to wear.

These types of pants look good rolled up, but they also look great with the hems left loose. I think I'll change it up depending on the style of my shoes and outfit.

Height: 173cm / Wearing size: 32
I took this photo styling the pants for when I go to work. I really like this combination, using two of my personal best buys from the HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION.
The fabric is about 10oz and being a linen blend means it feels soft and comfortable to wear. I have a feeling I'll be wearing these pants all summer long.
This is sure to sell out.
Please try it at the store.
We look forward to your visit and inquiries.
