The Special Air Service, commonly known as S.A.S., is a special forces unit of the British Army that was formed in 1941.
Their motto is "Who Dares Wins." They carried out numerous dangerous missions, including counter-terrorism operations and infiltration into enemy territory, and as a small, elite unit they attracted worldwide attention during the war.
Berets and Denison smocks became their signature looks.
This British military style would later have a major influence on the modern fashion scene.
A look back through Nigel Cabourn's archives will reveal this.
For the AW25 Collection, we focused on vintage clothing that embodies the S.A.S. story and incorporated it into the collection.

The PARATROOPER series combines the elegant ruggedness of British military style with the sophisticated atmosphere evoked by its exquisite colouring.

- Not seen in Vintage: Charcoal Grey -

An essential element of this series is our commitment to the fabric.
The original Denison smock and overpants were typically available in brushstroke camo or sand beige. While some are dyed black, this series is a different colour, a "charcoal grey," achieved using pigment dye.
Pigment dyeing is a dyeing method in which pigment is applied to the surface of the fabric, resulting in a vintage-looking, uneven fade that can be enjoyed with repeated wearing and washing.
For this series, we went through a lot of trial and error to get as close to a vintage look as possible, and finally arrived at a colour scheme that we were satisfied with.
British vintage is known for its super vintage style, such as parkas and smocks, with a grey base. We would like to propose this series as a new British military wear that carries on that lineage.
- Denison smock modified into a shirt -

This PARATROOPER SHIRT is an eclectic blend of the S.A.S.'s signature Denison smock and the design of an open-collar shirt.
The Denison smock was a military smock exclusively for paratroopers. Its market value has been rising year by year, and it's a coveted piece for any vintage enthusiast. Incidentally, the name "Denison smock" comes from the name of Colonel Denison of the British Army, who was involved in its development.
This product incorporates slanted pockets and snap buttons inspired by the Denison smock, modifying it from a smock into an open-collar shirt.
The relaxed sizing and collar design unique to open-collar shirts make for a stress-free fit.

- Low-tech specs that reflect the times -

The PARATROOPER PANT is based on S.A.S. overpants and incorporates elements of British military pants.
At the time, there were no combat uniforms suitable for parachute landings, and existing combat uniforms often caused problems with clothing flapping in the wind, causing equipment to fall off, and causing hypothermia.
As a result, pants specifically for Special Forces were developed with a loose silhouette to cover equipment during parachute landings.
This product also takes into account the historical context of the time, adopting a loose silhouette.
Furthermore, the pants also reproduce basic details of British military pants such as magazine pockets, gussetless cargo pockets, and hem tabs.
The "low-tech" feel of not having belt loops and instead being worn with a drawstring and suspenders only enhances the realism of the time.
I personally really like this design that doesn't pander to the modern era.

It also looks great worn as a set like this.
Hearing the term set might make you feel a little intimidated, but both items are casual in design so you can wear them casually.
We also recommend pairing it with the NEW MEDICAL SHIRT like in the look in the catalogue, so please do try it out for yourself.
