◾️ Moleskin
Moleskin is one of the most iconic materials in French vintage clothing.
This fabric, believed to have been used from the early 1900s to the 1950s, was primarily used as workwear for coal miners.
In fact, it was this fabric that first got me hooked on European vintage clothing.
I'd like to share the charm of this fabric, which I'm very fond of, with you all.

This new LYBRO collection is available as a three-piece set.
While each item can be used on its own to accent an outfit, we are proposing it as a set consisting of a jacket and a vest.
Moleskin is a durable fabric. So first, let's talk about the fabric.

Moleskin is a thick fabric created by weaving the yarns tightly together and brushing both sides of the fabric.
This durable and warm fabric was ideal for working inside mines, where temperatures are low, and so it was used to make many work jackets and pants.
However, due to poor productivity and changes in the industry itself, moleskin gradually disappeared from the 1960s, replaced by cotton twill.
When asked what makes moleskin so appealing, I would answer without hesitation: it's the way it changes over time.
Generally, the changes that occur over time are more noticeable visually, but in the case of moleskin, they can also be felt tactilely.
What this means is that over the years, the brushed surface becomes smoother. I think you can all imagine this so far.
But that's not the only way moleskin ages.
Some pieces may develop a glossy finish, while others may develop a dry texture, or even a bouncy feel against the skin.
Why does this occur? It all depends on where the fabric is produced, the brand that makes it, and how the wearer wears it.
Perhaps one of the joys of wearing this season's LYBRO moleskin is to wonder how it will age as you wear it.
By the way, my favorite moleskin fabric is the bouncy type! (laughs)

Now, finally, let's explain the details. Let's start with the jacket.
It is based on the work jackets worn by coal miners, and the lapel type in question is said to have been worn by more senior people (team leaders or section chiefs).
There are fewer of these circulating in the vintage clothing world than the regular type, making them highly valuable.
Even if you can find one from that time, most will have a boldly shaped back, and it's almost impossible to find one with as much room as this product.
The rest of the design includes three pockets and an inner pocket.
The chest pocket helps to determine the age, but explaining more would take too long, so I'll save that for another time.

Next up is the vest. This special shape, which originated from workwear, acts like a flap, preventing the contents from falling out.
And that's not all this vest has. It also has side pockets.
To be honest, these are much easier to use than vertical pockets, so I think they're a very useful detail.

Height: 173cm
JACKET:46 / VEST:46
Although the colours are similar, simply changing the material of the pants gives a sophisticated impression.
You can also go up a size for a casual look, but this time I tried a tied-up style.
Green is a colour that doesn't exist in vintage items.
It's quite rare.
Of course, the navy colour is also recommended.
We look forward to your visit and inquiries.
