The Royal Air Force, commonly known as the "RAF."
The RAF has produced many masterpieces, including the legendary vintage aviator coat, the 6B military watch, and the MK3, a milestone in British military jacket design.
This product focuses on the "MK4" flight jacket.
It will be released by Nigel Cabourn's proud British-made product line, the AUTHENTIC LINE.
"A tailored military jacket."
That's my idea of the MK4.
The British-inspired details demonstrate the high quality of this garment.
The distinctive V-shaped zip pocket and pen pocket make it clear that this design was inspired by the MK3 and MK4.
Epaulettes indicate rank and serve the purpose of securing equipment.
As this functionality is not used in modern times, they are sewn on as part of the design.
A detachable hood is provided for protection from the cold, wind and water.
This hood has been changed from a zipper to a button closure.
The original had Velcro on the cuffs to keep out the wind, but this version uses snap buttons for a more refined look.
While this product traces the original design, it is not a simple reproduction; it has been reinterpreted to fit in with the modern fashion scene.
The material used is Ventile.
Ventile is a traditional British high-density cotton that is windproof and water-resistant, and develops a unique texture and depth the more it is used.
The MK4, on which this product is based, used GORE-TEX, and most MK3s, the MK4's predecessor, also use high-density cotton.
The only original items made with Ventile are rare items from before the 1970s.
Even in vintage shops, there are few that will say for sure that it is Ventile, and it is said to be extremely difficult to tell the difference.
It's an interesting story, isn't it?
Taking into account its rarity, this product, which uses genuine Ventile, is extremely attractive.
It comes in two colours: green and navy, reminiscent of the golden age of the AUTHENTIC LINE.
The original green is certainly attractive, but I personally recommend the "navy" colour, which will develop a vintage-like patina with use.
After being worn, washed, and through daily wear, you'll develop an attachment to it that goes beyond even a new item.
This is the true essence of Nigel Cabourn.

The original MK4 has a slightly shorter length and wider chest and arms, creating a silhouette that is in line with the modern fashion scene.
This product also follows suit, with a larger fit.
