The FRENCH WORK JACKET 8W CORDUROY features a design based on a vintage French work jacket.
8-wale corduroy, which refers to its thickness, was one of the fabrics that surprised me the first time I saw it after joining Nigel Cabourn.
I've seen thick corduroy before, but I think Nigel Cabourn is the only brand able to produce double-weave corduroy in Japan that has such a powerful and heavy feel.
Furthermore, the fabric is dyed by hand at room temperature using a method called cold badge, without applying strong tension to the fabric, maintaining its soft texture.
The fabric needs to be left at room temperature for an extended period of time to set the dye, and the final dyeing takes much longer than standard dyeing methods, resulting in a high-quality fabric that is the result of meticulous effort and time.
It's not a stiff corduroy, but rather has been washed to give it an aged look and just the right amount of softness, making it comfortable to wear. I personally find this coverall-type jacket to be the easiest to handle, and I recommend it as a main item.
