This knitwear is inspired by the delicate Bishu tweed fabric from the 1950s and 1960s, which remains in Bishu, one of Japan's leading textile production regions.
What is Bishu Tweed?
Known as one of Japan's leading textile production regions, Bishu Tweed covers the western Owari and Seino areas of Gifu Prefecture, including Ichinomiya City in Aichi Prefecture, Tsushima City, Inazawa City, Konan City, and Hashima City in Gifu Prefecture. It has long developed as one of Japan's largest woolen textile production regions, accounting for approximately 60% of the country's woolen textile production.
Furthermore, Bishu Tweed is ranked as one of the world's three largest woollen textile production regions, a region highly regarded worldwide for its exceptional quality.
Nigel Cabourn Woman has created a knitted look using Oshu tweed fabric. By combining a variety of decorative yarns, we have achieved a woven pattern that is just like tweed.
Using four types of yarn - including molle-like lamé yarn, tassel-like decorative yarn, gradient-dyed Slavic yarn, and mesh-like yarn - we have created a gorgeous, textured knit.
Furthermore, by incorporating knit mohair, the fabric has a stretchiness that tweed fabric just can't match, and a soft, comfortable knit feel.
The open skipper collar gives a natural, relaxed look and makes the area around the face look neat. Its sparkling reflection is noticeable even from a distance, which tickles the feminine heart.
