I was particularly impressed by the outfit on page 176, which combines a "50's German smock" with a simple yet feminine skirt.

This item is based on an anorak worn by German mountain troops in the 1950s. An anorak is a hooded smock. With military style becoming more widespread as a fashion element, I feel that items like smocks and anoraks are gaining more attention! It has many distinctive details, such as the large front pockets, the lace-up neckline, and the drawstring waist, faithfully reproducing the vintage look.
What I particularly like is the lace-up detail at the neckline. By deliberately loosening it and showing off the décolletage, I think it creates a relaxed, effortless look.
This is just speculation, but I imagine the lace-up design was intended to allow for layering with thicker items like knitwear, or to make it suitable for people of various body types.
Military and outdoor-inspired items often have details that prioritise functionality, so it's fun to be able to reinterpret them in a new way in modern times.

Available in two styles: duck hunter camouflage and ripstop material. Both have a faded, vintage-like finish. While it's appealing to enjoy the aging process and create your own unique piece, it's also nice to have a finished look right from the start.
For this spring-like collection, both styles feature a white base with a pop of red. We recommend loosening the lace to create a slightly open neckline, while cinching the cuffs and waist for a flattering, feminine silhouette.
