Senior Menswear Designer (Full Time)

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Nigel Cabourn has worked in the industry for over fifty years producing collections, which are not influenced by ‘fashion’ trends but driven by inspirational stories of real people in history and vintage military, outdoor and work wear pieces.

Position Overview

  • Working alongside the Head of Design you will be responsible for design and product oversight for all product groups (head to toe plus accessories) across all and collaborative collections.
  • Responsible for product/concept research, style specification and material selection in line with brief and direction set by Head of Design.
  • Maintain accurate digital folders for all concept and design of main line collections and collaborations.

Essential Dues and Responsibilities

  • Concept research and presentation of ideas.
  • Create accurate CADS/Tech Packs according to design and range plans.
  • Provide development direction for fabrication, components and trims.
  • Attend fittings and partner with technical team on garment fit and adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate digital folders for all concept and design of main line collections and collaborations.

Requirements / Skills 

  • Batchelor Level Degree (or equivalent) in Fashion Design
  • You have at least five years of experience in design and development of Menswear
  • Skills: strong knowledge in Adobe especially in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • You are a proactive team player, have excellent communication skills and a hands-on mentality.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, fluent in written and spoken English are a must.
  • Highly organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A fast and organised designer to cope with the fast pace of seasons.
  • High level of attention to detail needed.
  • Strong understanding of vintage clothing throughout the eras with particular focus on military, workwear and expedition.
  • Experience with vendors/suppliers a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must be willing to work from Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
