JAMES SUCKLING, LYBRO WELDER’S JACKET.

Introducing Cabourn ‘Around Town’ documenting Nigel Cabourn customers from a whole host of industries and backgrounds. These movers and shakers, at the cutting edge of their disciplines, showcase Nigel Cabourn styles with a fresh new perspective.

Kicking off is fashion consultant James Suckling of Mr Nice in Soho.

James hails originally from Southampton but made his way to London in his late teens and has been there ever since. He’s spent the subsequent 16 years working with designers and brands to bring menswear products to the market that make sense and sell through.

“I’ve been obsessed with Japanese denim for a long time and the contrast fabrics and stitching along with the vintage feel hardware, set this jacket above over brands making a similar silhouette.”

We caught up and shot James in the Mr Nice Store in Soho, London, a project he has been working on since its inception in 2018. Primarily a CBD boutique, Mr Nice bills itself as a “modern cannabis destination” that sells “carefully curated cannabis accessories from around the world” focusing on the wellness vibe. It also stocks a range of graphic tees and premium clothing essentials and along with the permanent Soho location they’re also about to launch a pop up in Selfridges.

James’ style is a mix of streetwear and rave culture references, ripped jean shorts, graphic tee shirts, hoodies and the newest Off White Nike trainers. Brands he’s into at the moment include Aires and Online Ceramics and UDLI Editions for tees. He also likes designers Martine Rose and Sportsbanger as they reference stuff that is very personal to him.

He’s teamed his look with our Lybro Welder’s Split Zip jacket made in Japanese denim and cotton moleskin and it was this mix of fabrics that initially drew him to it. His pick is from Nigel Cabourn’s dedicated work wear range, Lybro, and is available now and also comes in an army colour way.

JAMES’ AW19 CABOURN SELECTIONS.

Black Navy Welders Split Zip Jacket

This zip up jacket has all the hallmarks of a classic work wear piece. Comfortable in fit it is made in a mix of soft cotton moleskin on the back and raw Japanese denim on the front. Its numerous handy pockets include a zip and pen pocket and a lower one that ‘wraps’ from front to back.

Navy Embroidered Globe Hoodie

Based on a vintage military training hoody this great new style also references Nigel’s own design archive with the addition of an embroidered Globe logo developed during the eighties on the front. With its ‘kangaroo’ pocket, looks great worn as a top or mid layer.

Black Navy British Army Jacket

This new casual jacket mixes influences from clothing traditionally worn by British Army ground staff with a classic work wear silhouette. The result is an easy to wear utility jacket made in garment dyed cotton drill for an authentic lived in look and feel.
