Introducing Umbro X Nigel Cabourn

This exciting Umbro X Nigel Cabourn collaboration stems from Nigel's love for collecting military uniforms and vintage sportswear.

This fantastic 10x piece capsule collection reinterprets Umbro’s rugby legacy whilst incorporating signature Cabourn military influences featuring rugby shirts, sweats, drill tops, RAF inspired badges and labels, and a remake of an original WW2 leather rugby ball.

Umbro has pioneered sports tailoring since it’s founding in 1924, with their innovative kit designs. In the early 30s, Umbro launched a wide selection of Rugby products offered in many colours and different designs.

However, during WWII, production came to a halt and the Umbro factory switched from manufacturing sportswear to Army supplies including military uniforms and providing internal fabric cladding for the production of Spitfires. During this period even their factory’s canteen in Wilmslow was opened to RAF staff.

After the war, the Umbro brand became synonymous with British football; over eighty five per cent of all British football clubs wore Umbro kits.
However, during the 1970’s Umbro reconnected with it’s rugby heritage, creating kits for each of the home nations, multiple clubs as well as the 1971 British & Irish Lions team (still the only Lions team to win a series in New Zealand).

Incorporating Umbro’s military and RAF history with a nod to the brand's rugby heritage, we saw this collection as a celebration of its new partnership with England Rugby and a seminal chapter in the brand's history.
