Mechanics Cap In Black Navy Herringbone

Originally made for functionality by keeping the sun out of mechanics' eyes whilst preparing the aircraft for take-off, this Mechanics Cap in Black Navy has been designed to be a hard-wearing baseball cap.

They were first used for the convenience of the flight crew in the United States Air Force during WW2 as well as other parts of the Air Force due to their practical nature.

They are made from HBT (cotton herringbone twill) and in 1938 was introduced by the US Army as a replacement for American blue denim work uniforms. However, by 1941, it had gone on to become the standard dress for all types of military activity including combat.
