Once considered the national sport of the USA before the meteoric rise in popularity of American Football, Baseball style continues to be emblematic of all-American culture as a whole, and motifs regularly pop up in streetwear and high fashion alike. Whilst the baseball cap has gone on to become the world's favourite hat, collegiate varsity jackets and baseball shirts each have their own place in the sportswear wall of fame.

Our baseball shirt is based on vintage styles from the 1950's and retains a lot of the original features that have made this type of shirt popular to this day. The contrast piping has been precisely stitched, not only to ensure longevity but to give a three dimensional look.

Just like our classic British Officers Shirt, the front hem is rounded. This is a detail that was commonly adopted by the British Army as it helps prevent the shirt from untucking when tucked into trousers. As with the military, baseball players generally play with their shirts tucked in so we carried this feature through to this shirt.

Also included are two details commonly seen on vintage USMC (United States Marine Corps) baseball shirts – cats eye buttons and contrast ventilation holes. Something not found on vintage baseball shirts but we considered to be a good addition is the chest pocket, placed inside the shirt as opposed to outside. This is reminiscent of the inside pockets found in military clothing, used to keep small personal items in.

Made from a comfortable cotton twill, this shirt is cut wide and loose throughout the body and the sleeves, and so can easily be layered over thicker garments. Being the colourway found most in vintage, you might notice the Light Grey shirt has a slight difference in texture compared to the others. Although made from the same soft cotton twill, this is a fabric we have reproduced to be close to the wool blend that existed in the original vintage versions.
