For this look, I’ve styled an outfit centred around new arrivals from Nigel Cabourn.
The first thing that catches the eye is the Palaka check jacket.
At first glance, it looks like it has undergone heavy distressing, but when you actually put it on, the fading is natural and exquisite—a finish I personally really love.
The fabric has a textured, uneven surface that minimises contact with the skin, creating a cooling effect. This makes it a piece you can easily throw on over a T-shirt or tank top even in muggy weather—perfectly comfortable for summer wear.
Since the jacket has a rather short length, I paired it with long trousers.
However, wearing thick, long pants this time of year can be tough. That’s why I chose the new US Navy Trousers.
This model takes the classic basic chino as its foundation but has been updated to make it comfortable to wear even in summer.
The colour is a grey reminiscent of "sumi-black" (charcoal)—a shade not found in the original version.
They feature a wide silhouette with plenty of volume, yet the waist area is clean and fitted, striking an exquisite balance rather than just looking baggy.
Above all, the fabric quality is worth highlighting.
It has a natural sheen that looks like linen at first glance, and while the material is lightweight, it possesses a certain substantial, high-quality look.
And yet, it is made of 100% cotton.
It looks cool and airy, and feels light to wear, making it a highly recommended choice for those who want to enjoy long sleeves and long pants even during the hot season.
For the inner layer, I chose a vintage T-shirt, and for accessories, a sterling silver charm bracelet I bought at a Searchlight pop-up event.
It’s hard to see, but I’ve attached two charms: a car and a hula girl (haha).
The natural fading of the Palaka check, the vintage T-shirt, and the vintage silver accessories...
These items each have their own unique character developed through aging, but they work together perfectly—a styling combination I personally really love.
Enjoying long sleeves and long pants precisely because it’s a hot summer.
If you choose the right materials and silhouettes, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy summer styling. Please use this as inspiration for your styling this summer.
