SS26 OX'ed Silver has been released. This season's theme is "fishermen," and this line features a collection that incorporates details from that era. The KURE KAKISHIBU SERIES is one such example.
[Traditional Japanese techniques utilised by fishermen]
This product uses "persimmon tannin dyeing," a traditional technique that has been passed down in Japan for over 1000 years.
This ancient, naturally derived dyeing method involves fermenting unripe persimmons and immersing the fibres in the dye. Immediately after dyeing, the fabric is light brown, but it has the characteristic of oxidising and turning dark brown when exposed to natural light.
This technique was also used in Japanese fishing, where persimmon tannin was applied to hemp fishing nets to make them last longer.
On the other hand, this product uses persimmon tannin dyeing on 100% cotton moleskin, employing it for the purpose of achieving the refined look of astringent brown, its aging process, and also for improving its strength.
The images show part of the dyeing process. The fabric is dyed persimmon-coloured in the bucket on the top, and then twilight dyeing is performed in the bucket on the bottom. In fact, this product was made using the process described above.
Twilight dyeing involves first creating a base with persimmon tannin, then soaking it in water containing a lot of iron to cause a black reaction. After that, it is exposed to air and natural light to oxidise and allow the dye to penetrate. The finished fabric has a rich texture and a unique charcoal colour.
As the fabric is used, the reddish colour of the persimmon tannin gradually appears, allowing you to enjoy a one-of-a-kind aging process. Incidentally, the person in the image is the craftsman who was involved in the dyeing process of this product. His dyeing techniques were truly magnificent.
[Focusing on vintage French workwear]
The design is inspired by 1920s French work jackets. It's simple yet shows attention to detail in every aspect.
First, the chest pocket. The facing has a unique design reminiscent of a flap. As expected of French design, it's a detail that shows good taste. This design is said to be highly valued in the vintage market due to its rarity. The leather patches on each pocket are to increase tear strength. The use of leather adds to the sense of luxury. The "horizontal collar," with its wide angle, is a style seen in French vintage jackets of that era.
Its refined appearance, which reflects the national character of the time, gives the wearer a sense of exhilaration.
Wearing Size: 48 / Height: 175cm
I styled these military pants with a scarf for a slightly more polished look. The silhouette is a comfortable, relaxed coverall type. I felt it was an incredibly versatile piece. I'm absolutely certain that it will develop a deeper character the more you wear it...
We also have vests in stock. This product is a masterpiece inspired by the double-breasted vests worn by fishermen in the Volendam region of the Netherlands, and uses the same dyeing process. It's a distinctive item with a classic look, made using traditional Japanese techniques.
You can almost hear people saying, "How nostalgic!"
This product is a reproduction of the Volendam pants that took the world by storm in AW23, using this fabric. Like the vest, it retains the original design and is worn with suspenders. The silhouette is quite wide, setting it apart from other pants. Be sure to check out these unique and highly addictive trousers.
The traditional Japanese dyeing technique of "persimmon tannin dyeing," which has been practiced for a 1000 years, is combined with European workwear designs to create a truly remarkable design.
