《The Secret Hidden in the Buttons》MOUNTAINEER BLANKET COAT

Hello everyone. This is Sakakibara from the Ginza Novo store.

It's almost time for spring/summer items to start arriving.

But don't miss out on our archive items!

There's still a lot of hidden charm to discover, so let me tell you about it!!

MOUNTAINEER BLANKET COAT
Item No. 80490800103
Colour. Ivory / Charcoal Grey
Size. 6 / 8

The design is based on the coats worn by British mountaineering teams at base camp.

This time, we'd like to focus on the buttons.

If you look closely, you'll see that the buttons are shaped like hoses used by firefighters as hidden firefighters. The hoses form a cross, and the design shows them putting out the flames in the middle.

The original source of the name is Belle Jardiniere, the oldest department store in France.

It sadly closed in 1972, bringing an end to a history that spanned over 100 years.

The elegant, high-quality items produced by Belle Jardiniere still have a special presence in today's vintage market.

Although it was a department store, it also produced a variety of OEM workwear, including the uniforms it made for firefighters.

Taking inspiration from vintage Belle Jardiniere buttons, the back of the buttons is engraved with the Nigel Cabourn logo.

Another key feature is that the materials used on the front and back of the buttons are different.

It is said that metal compositions were changed at the time, and Nigel Cabourn changes the colour by plating.

The black buttons on the Charcoal Grey colour coat are spray painted on one side only.

I was moved by the way the designers create clothes, paying attention to even the parts that cannot be seen.

【 Height: 155cm / Ivory: 8 】

Given my height, size 6 would be appropriate, but I like long coats so I chose size 8.
It's cute even in the larger sizes!

I tried wearing the ivory colour inside out.

The blanket stitching is visible on the outside, making this side even more cute!
