Although the term "aloha shirt" is now commonly used, did you know that Japanese people were actually involved in its origins?

About 130 years ago, Japanese workers who immigrated to Hawaii primarily wore shirts as work clothes. From there, it gradually evolved into shirts made from remade kimono and yukata fabric (the prototype of today's aloha shirts), and continues to do so today.

Then a little after 1900, its popularity spread around the world when a movie star wore this type of shirt in a movie.

At the same time, the Wright Brothers had just completed the world's first powered flight, and Japan was in the midst of the mid-Meiji period, just to give you a real sense of history.

The historical background is going to be long, so I'll keep it brief. From here on, I would like to touch on the details of this product.

This is a piece that you'll want to collect, just like last year's aloha shirt. If you miss out now, you'll probably regret not buying it later.

First of all, let's look at the precision of the pattern matching.

Matching patterns requires sewing and cutting skills, and of course there is more cost involved. You can see this a well finished piece.

I was honestly surprised that not only did the patterns on the surface match, but the patterns also matched on the fabric underside.

Next up is the fabric.

It has a luxurious feel that can only be achieved with 100% rayon. The soft texture and glossy finish are still as beautiful as ever.

Vintage aloha shirts are made of a slightly rougher fabric called crepe, but this product has a really smooth feeling on the skin.

Most shirts have vertical buttonholes, but this product uses horizontal buttonholes.

This buttonhole is more durable than the vertical type, and is the same type of buttonhole that can be found on the original 1960s shirt that inspired the OPEN COLLAR SHIRT.

It might be interesting to see if you have any shirts with horizontal buttonholes.

This pattern is truly one of a kind.

It makes me imagine wearing this shirt this summer, enjoying my days off with a beer in hand.

At this point in history, farmers would stay hydrated with beer, and it seems like sometimes they would drink too much and not be able to get any work done, so this is a very interesting design!

Styling is simple and I have gone for classic items. I tried to match the base colour throughout.

You can easily wear this with leather shoes and military pants, or with sandals for a summer look.

As I said in the title, this shirt can easily be worn as a top like this, or as an inner layer in early Autumn, underneath a shirt or jacket. "An outfit that will never be boring" is certainly true.

Nigel Cabourn pants really do go with everything. To be honest, this look really goes well together and actually looks better in person than in this photo. It's an easy piece to wear.

At this time, not only Hyakutora but also Mugi (farmer). Why not give it a try.

I have told you about the various details so far, but in the end you can only truly appreciate the quality of something by wearing it.

This has been a very popular item in the HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION, so we hope you will give it a try.

We look forward to your visit and enquiry
