Hello everyone, this is Nishizawa from the Lucua Osaka store.
It looks like another big cold wave is coming this weekend, but new items from the 2026 Spring & Summer collection have started to arrive in stores little by little.
We have received shirts, jackets, and pants in spring colours and textures, and I feel the excitement I get every season as I touch the fabrics.
This year, the calendar's first day of Spring was February 4th, so we'd like to gradually feel the signs of spring, but the news is saying that this will be the strongest cold snap of the season, so I hope that after this cold snap passes, the warmth of spring will arrive!
When I was thinking about what item to write about in this blog, I thought I'd suggest a very versatile jacket that is easy to use in the temperature that is gradually changing from the cold of winter to the warmth of spring, and also has water repellency for sudden bad weather.
I'd like to introduce a military jacket that is full of creative charm, made with a specially designed fabric called "HALFTEX".
【HALFTEX - Original Fabric】
This original fabric is made by specially processing nylon yarn to give it a cotton-like texture. It is "100% nylon that is as close to cotton as possible." It is a 100% nylon fabric woven by twisting hollow-design nylon spun yarn, and is characterised by its "dry and natural texture," "extremely high nylon rigidity," and "amazing lightness."
It has a texture close to vintage cotton, but with the tear strength and abrasion resistance of nylon, making it an innovative fabric
Designed to be about half the weight of cotton, it has an extremely light feel when you put it on despite its heavy appearance, expanding the range of styling possibilities.
HALFTEX's greatest appeal is that it combines a powerful, substantial look with astonishing lightness, and it is a unique and one-of-a-kind fabric that is produced in limited factories.
【Design Originality】
This jacket fuses elements of iconic American military jackets such as the US Army Jungle Fatigue Jacket, USMC P-44 Jacket, and M-43 HBT Jacket, while also incorporating elements of British hunting jackets, such as the use of thick corduroy fabric on the collar.
The concept also pays homage to the jacket worn by Vincent Okamoto (a Japanese-American officer who served in the Vietnam War), resulting in a Nigel Cabourn-esque reconstruction of vintage wear with meticulous attention to detail. Luxurious features include 13-star buttons, a gas flap, large gusseted pockets, and an old-classic British check pattern lining.
【Styling】
This jacket has a calm colour that evokes elements of American military and British traditional gentleman style, so I like that even when paired with vintage M-43 HBT cargo pants, the military feel doesn't become too strong.
While incorporating the strong American casual elements of the 40s DENIM JACKET - VINTAGE WASH worn under the VINCENT HALFTEX MODIFY, the overall look doesn't appear too casual, and I think the VINCENT jacket brings it all together in a subdued atmosphere, which is one of the charms of this jacket.
Of course, it's a versatile jacket that goes well with various pants such as wool or cotton trousers, or denim or chinos, so don't hesitate to try combining it with various styles! The aging process that occurs as you continue to wear it is also an attractive feature! Even though it's 100% nylon...
Every time I delve into the production background of Nigel Cabourn with MAINLINE designer "Zuki," I am always impressed by the passion for pursuing attention to detail and the uncompromising spirit of inquiry.
I am also once again drawn to the added value of Nigel Cabourn's products. This is not only due to the original designs that are not mere reproductions, but also to the innovative ideas that combine existing knowledge and experience from different angles to create something new and high-quality, such as original fabrics like "HALFTEX."
I believe this is what makes this brand so cool, as it has a unique appeal that I haven't felt with many other brands, and I am truly excited when I learn about the outline of each season's collection.
I encourage everyone to experience it firsthand at a store and find Nigel Cabourn's meticulously crafted clothing that you can cherish for a long time!
