| Nigel Cabourn Archive Items
This product revives an archive piece released by Nigel Cabourn in the 1980s.
At the time, Nigel Cabourn had a brand that focused on cricket. The jacket is based on the style worn by "Casual" football fans in northern England. "The brand 'Cricket,' established in 1969, of course takes its name from the traditional British sport of cricket, but it was a brand that truly expressed inspiration from 1960s pop culture.
While the direct source of this product is from the 80s, the spirit of the 60s flows through it at its core.
Left: Vintage Sample / Right: SS26 Product
It's a little hard to tell from the photos, but you can see that the vintage one has faded as if it's been sun-bleached. You can enjoy the aging process as it goes from a bright orange to a slightly whitish, yellowish colour!
| Design Background
The design is based on a flight jacket from the United States Air Force.
The original grosgrain tape on the inside back and the patch on the chest are details that are also reflected in the vintage style.
Grosgrain tape is used in various items in the women's collection this season. This fabric is characterised by its fine horizontal ribbing and was a material that was often used as a detail in military supplies and workwear.
The force that is applied to the back when a person moves is strongest in the horizontal direction, such as when extending the arms forward, rounding the back, or opening the shoulders. By running the grosgrain tape horizontally, which does not stretch easily, it prevents the back from stretching too much horizontally and prevents the fabric from tearing or becoming distorted.
The hem features a strong rib, blending a sporty silhouette reminiscent of the swing top (Harrington jacket) popular in the 1960s and 70s. This creates the illusion of a shorter length and a moderately voluminous look.
The colour palette features vibrant colours reminiscent of the 80s, recreating the pop atmosphere of that era. While adjusted to fit seamlessly into modern wardrobes, it still exudes a nostalgic feel.
The tag features a signature from Nigel Cabourn, indicating that the reproduction has been approved. It's a charming, handwritten-style signature.
This jacket is not just a simple replica of Nigel Cabourn's work. It symbolises the history that designer Nigel Cabourn has walked and the "diverse and eclectic culture" that blends sports and military elements.
[Height: 155cm / Wearing Size: 44]
This unlined, single-layer jacket is characterised by its ability to be worn as a light outer layer for a long season. The fabric is also wrinkle-resistant, making it easy to put on and take off, and convenient to carry around.
The high collar protects against the wind, and it has a built-in packable hood. It's a highly functional piece, perfect as a spring outer layer.
We look forward to your visit and inquiries!
