《A bag typical of Nigel Cabourn》HELMET BAG - SWISS ARMY

Thank you for visiting our blog. This is Uenishi from the Okayama store.
The freezing winter nights are becoming fewer, and the bright, sunny spring mornings are increasing! As the weather gets warmer, I feel like going out.

I felt like taking a day trip, so I went on one the other day!  I bought a lot of things at a vintage goods store, but since I was traveling by train, it was a struggle to carry them all back...  If only I had a bigger bag...!

Just as I was thinking that, a bag that is very "Nigel Cabourn-esque" arrived, so I'd like to introduce it to you today!

This item is a fusion of "helmet bag" details and Swiss Army's "salt and pepper fabric"!

When it arrived, my heart cried out, "This is great!", and my arm responded by buying it immediately. I've actually used it and it's been quite good, so I'll briefly explain what's so great about this item! A must-see for anyone looking for a bag!

First of all, what exactly is a helmet bag? What is Swiss Army? What is salt-and-pepper fabric?... I understand that the sudden increase in terms might be confusing, so let me briefly explain!

"What is a helmet bag?"
As the name suggests, it is an item used by US military pilots to carry their helmets, and it is a military-derived bag that combines durability and storage capacity.

"What is Swiss Army?"
Here, it refers to the Swiss Army's mountain troops, which were said to be the strongest unit in the Swiss Army.

"What is salt and pepper fabric?"
This name became established because the fabric of the bags used by the Swiss Army's mountain troops looked like it was sprinkled with sesame seeds and salt.

In other words! The US military doesn't use salt-and-pepper fabric, and the Swiss army doesn't use helmet bags. This item is the result of Nigel Cabourn's unique interpretation and blending!

Helmet bags are normally made of nylon, but by using 100% cotton salt-and-pepper fabric, it becomes a product that will age beautifully over time! This eclectic approach is sure to appeal to military enthusiasts. I'm one of them!

The helmet bag has a surprisingly large capacity, so you can fit a lot of things in it! I was impressed by how much it could hold despite its streamlined design. It easily fits a laptop and documents, so it seems like it would be useful in business settings as well! I was curious to see just how much I could fit in the bag, so I tried to fill it to its maximum capacity.

Four pairs of tri-folded British Army pants fit perfectly! I can't hide my surprise at how spacious it is; it seems like it could even accommodate a full-fledged trip . It looks like it could even hold any souvenirs you might buy on a whim while traveling.

Despite its military origins, its appearance resembles a tote bag, which is a great feature! It blends naturally with non-military wear and elevates the overall style. This is exactly the kind of bag I've been looking for!

One of its features is a part called a spring hook! Originally designed for hanging bags on walls, it was great for attaching house keys smoothly. If you want to change where you attach your house keys from your belt loop, try attaching them to the spring hook! The jingling sound from your bag is sure to lift your spirits!

A key feature of this helmet bag is the two large pockets on the outside. Apparently, pilots originally used these pockets to store oxygen masks and maps, and I really like the way they look when you fill them to the brim! Even if you don't have anything specific to put in them, I recommend stuffing them with a towel or something to make them bulge out!

The styling is centred around the bag and kept in a single tone! The helmet bag really stands out against the simple outfit. Personally, I'd like to pair it with dark-coloured items to frame the bag!

This was an introduction to a "Nigel Cabourn-esque bag" that combines a helmet bag with salt-and-pepper fabric!

Please try it out in store!
