Based on the headwear worn in WW2 by mechanics and flight crew in the US Air Force, the Mechanics Cap is a hardwearing baseball cap. Although these caps were intended as a functional means to keep the sun out of mechanics' eyes whilst preparing aircraft for take-off, their use quickly extended to other parts of the Air Force due to their practical nature. The Mechanics Cap is made from a 100% cotton twill with a faded, garment dyed design, also featuring six panels and numerous stitches on the brim to help retain its shape.
